The 1984 Michigan State Spartans football team was an American football team that represented Michigan State University as a member of the Big Ten Conference during the 1984 Big Ten football season. In their second season under head coach George Perles, the Spartans compiled a 6–6 record, tied for sixth place in the Big Ten, and were outscored by a total of 193 to 187. In three games against ranked opponents, they defeated No. 13 Michigan and No. 18 Iowa, but lost to No. 8 Ohio State. The Spartans played in the program's first bowl game since 1965, losing to Army in the 1984 Cherry Bowl.
