Tragedy
On January 27, 2001 at 5:37 pm, following a road loss to the Colorado Buffaloes, a Beechcraft Super King Air 200 transporting two players and six Oklahoma State broadcasters and members of the team coaching staff, crashed into a field near Strasburg, Colorado. The crash killed all 8 passengers and both pilots onboard. The plane was on-route from Jefferson County Airport to Stillwater Regional Airport. 20 minutes after takeoff, the pilot became disoriented by his equipment and instruments failing in the midst of a snow storm, resulting in the fatal crash.
