The relegation of
Juventus to
Serie B due to
Calciopoli, and
Milan and
Fiorentina's penalisations, made Inter a clear favourite for the title: the side was empowered with the arrivals of
Zlatan Ibrahimović,
Patrick Vieira,
Fabio Grosso and
Maicon. In early September, the club suffered a tragedy: Inter's president
Giacinto Facchetti died at the age of 64, due to a cancer. The 2006–07 season was signed by records: Inter won 17 games in row for an achievement still unbeaten. Inter also got 11 wins in away matches and obtained the title with 5 games left to play. The side ended with 97 points, 22 over
Roma which came second: in 38 matches Inter collected 30 wins, 7 draws and just one defeat (the first in Serie A since April 2006) against Roma. ==Players==
