The Redhawks, led by third-year head coach Brad Korn, played their home games at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri as members of the Ohio Valley Conference. They finished the season 19–17, 10–8 in OVC play to finish a three-way tie for third place. As No. 5 seed in the OVC tournament, the defeated Lindenwood, Tennessee State, Moorehead State, and Tennessee Tech to win the conference championship. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament for the second time in school history and first since 2000.
