Albert Alexeyevich Razin was an Udmurt language rights activist and Neopaganist who committed traditional self-immolation (tipshar) in the centre of Izhevsk as an act of protest against the adoption of a bill on the voluntary study of the national languages of native peoples, which would allow Udmurt schoolchildren to choose for themselves which language to study, but could lead to a decrease in the number of speakers of the Udmurt language.
