On August 17, 1966, Napoli was nominated by President
Lyndon B. Johnson to a new seat on the
United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois created by 80 Stat. 75. He was confirmed by the
United States Senate on September 20, 1966, and received his commission on September 21, 1966, serving until his death in Chicago on July 12, 1972. ==See also==
