2020 census As of the
2020 census, Ashland had a population of 3,086. The median age was 38.2 years. 25.9% of residents were under the age of 18 and 17.8% of residents were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 96.2 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 95.2 males age 18 and over. 0.0% of residents lived in urban areas, while 100.0% lived in rural areas. There were 1,249 households in Ashland, of which 31.3% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 46.7% were married-couple households, 19.1% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 26.1% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. About 30.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. Hispanic or Latino individuals of any race were 1.64% of the population. Of the 877 households 33.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.5% were married couples living together, 10.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.6% were non-families. 26.7% of households were one person and 15.4% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.01. The age distribution was 25.7% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 28.3% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 18.2% 65 or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 88.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.0 males. The median household income was $40,441, and the median family income was $47,428. Males had a median income of $32,339 versus $21,328 for females. The per capita income for the city was $19,072. About 9.3% of families and 9.5% of the population were below the
