Beauty School Dropout was initially created by Cole Hutzler as a solo project while he was still part of the band Strangefaces. After Strangefaces disbanded, Hutzler brought in his former bandmate Brent Burdett on bass and Bardo Novotny as a producer and guitarist to expand the project into a full band. The group's early development was supported by
Pete Wentz of
Fall Out Boy and mentor
Mark Hoppus of
blink-182, under their Verswire label. Further support came from manager Nick Lippman, producer Diego Ruelas and Veeps founder Sherry Saeedi. The band released their debut single, "Last Time", in February 2020. The song was followed by three other singles in the same year. In October 2021, the group released their debut EP,
Boys Do Cry. The EP featured collaborations with artists like
Jason Aalon Butler and
Rob Cavallo. For live performances, the band included former Strange Faces member Mike Rose as a drummer to enhance their stage presence. == Discography ==
