Beryllium azide has been synthesised by the reaction of
beryllium chloride
with neat
trimethylsilyl azide

Infrared
and
Raman
spectra suggest that beryllium azide consists of infinite chains, with
tetrahedrally
coordinated beryllium(II) atoms
covalently
bridged by one end of the
azide
