Big Coppitt Key is the name of a
census-designated place and
unincorporated community that occupies Big Coppitt Key and the neighboring islands of
Geiger Key and
Shark Key. As of the
2020 census, it had a population of 2,869. According to the
United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of , of which are land and , or 37.38%, are water.

The average household size was 2.34 and the average family size was 2.77. In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 19.3% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 32.4% from 25 to 44, 30.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.5% who were 65 years of age or older.
