2020 census As of the
2020 census, Blackfoot had a population of 12,346. The median age was 33.8 years. 28.4% of residents were under the age of 18 and 15.0% of residents were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 96.5 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 93.7 males age 18 and over. There were 4,460 households in Blackfoot, of which 36.8% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 46.2% were married-couple households, 17.7% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 28.2% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. About 27.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. There were 4,685 housing units, of which 4.8% were vacant. The homeowner vacancy rate was 1.4% and the rental vacancy rate was 3.9%.

The average household size was 2.74 and the average family size was 3.31. The median age in the city was 30.8 years. 31.3% of residents were under the age of 18; 9.6% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 25.5% were from 25 to 44; 20.8% were from 45 to 64; and 12.8% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 49.6% male and 50.4% female.

The average household size was 2.75 and the average family size was 3.27. 31.2% of the population were under the age of 18, 10.9% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 18.9% from 45 to 64, and 13.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females, there were 96.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.3 males. The
