There were 30,840 households, out of which 33.10% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 38.95% were married couples living together, 23.83% had a female householder with no spouse present, and 30.46% were non-families. 27.30% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.00% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.84 and the average family size was 3.48. The township's age distribution consisted of 25.6% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 23.4% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37.6 years. For every 100 females, there were 89.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.8 males.
