In 2013, Bolian broke the Cannonball Run record with a time of 28:50. The Cannonball Run is an unsanctioned coast-to-coast, high speed, long distance driving challenge inspired by the movie
The Cannonball Run, which was itself an adventure-comedy movie inspired by the ‘’Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash’’ of the 1970’s, more informally known as
the Cannonball Run. The object of the challenge is to drive from the Red Ball Garage in New York City to the Portofino Hotel in
Redondo Beach in the shortest time possible. Bolian made his run with the help of co-driver Dave Black and “spotter” Dan Huang. The group drove a 2004
Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG outfitted with two 22-gallon external gas tanks — including the stock tank, the gas capacity totaled 67 gallons of fuel; a full load of fuel weighed approximately 400 pounds. The car was selected due to its active suspension, which would help with the extra weight from the fuel. In-cabin equipment included two Garmin GPS units, two iPhone chargers, a police scanner, three radar detectors, rear light kill-switch, fuel tank switchover switch, CB radio, two laser jammers, and a professionally installed switch panel. The spare tire was placed in the back seat; the trunk contained the external fuel tanks. Before the car left, it had a $9000 comprehensive service, and it left with 115,000 miles on the odometer. Reported fuel consumption on the trip was 13 MPG, and full tank range was roughly 800 miles. The group left Red Ball garage at 9:56 p.m. on Saturday, October 19. After a reportedly uneventful cross-country journey, the group arrived at the Portofino Hotel at 11:46 p.m. on October 20, totaling a time of 28:50. == Personal life ==
