Before the 2020 - 2022 redistricting, the district encompassed parts of the
Westside and
South Los Angeles, reaching almost to the
Pacific Ocean. The current 54th district includes East Hollywood, Silver Lake, Echo Park, Koreatown, Pico-Union, Los Feliz, Downtown L.A., Chinatown, Boyle Heights, Commerce, Montebello and Vernon among other neighborhoods and municipalities. The district is ethnically diverse and heavily urban. '
