2020 census As of the
2020 census, Chimayo had a population of 3,077. The median age was 48.0 years. 17.5% of residents were under the age of 18 and 24.2% of residents were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 92.1 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 91.6 males age 18 and over. There were 1,315 households in Chimayo, of which 26.1% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 40.4% were married-couple households, 21.8% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 30.7% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. About 29.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. of 2000, there were 2,924 people, 1,150 households, and 808 families residing in the CDP. married couples living together, 15.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.7% were non-families. 26.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.05. In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 25.3% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 100.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.9 males. The median income for a household in the CDP was $31,474, and the median income for a family was $35,938. Males had a median income of $28,009 versus $24,357 for females. The
