Columbea is a taxon suggested by genome analysis that contains Columbiformes, Pteroclidae (sandgrouse), Mesitornithidae (mesites) and Mirandornithes. Until their recent placement as the sister taxon to Passerea, in the last decade various genetic analysis found them to be in the obsolete clade Metaves.
