Contra Costa Centre first appeared as a census designated place in the 2000 U.S. census under the name Waldon; The racial makeup of Contra Costa Centre was 50.3% White, 4.9% African American, 0.5% Native American, 27.0% Asian, 0.2% Pacific Islander, 5.1% from other races, and 11.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 12.2% of the population. The age distribution was 13.7% under the age of 18, 6.5% aged 18 to 24, 48.8% aged 25 to 44, 21.1% aged 45 to 64, and 9.9% who were 65years of age or older. The median age was 34.6years. For every 100 females, there were 95.2 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.8 males age 18 and over. ==Education==
