Racial and ethnic composition 2020 census As of the
2020 census, Palm Harbor had a population of 61,366. The median age was 51.2 years. 16.5% of residents were under the age of 18 and 27.9% of residents were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 89.2 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 86.4 males age 18 and over. There were 27,662 households in Palm Harbor, of which 21.5% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 47.9% were married-couple households, 16.2% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 29.5% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. About 31.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. There were 31,238 housing units, of which 11.4% were vacant. The homeowner vacancy rate was 1.5% and the rental vacancy rate was 9.9%.

married couples living together, 8.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.6% were non-families. 28.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.28 and the average family size was 2.79. In 2000, in the CDP, the population was spread out, with 20.8% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 23.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females, there were 88.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.5 males. In 2000, the median income for a household in the CDP was $45,404, and the median income for a family was $52,925. Males had a median income of $41,003 versus $29,287 for females. The
