Cusco province

The province of Cusco is located in the southern highlands of Peru and is the smallest of thirteen provinces in the Cusco Region. Its capital is Cusco, which is also the Historical Capital of Peru.

The province is divided into eight districts (, singular: distrito), each of which is headed by a mayor (alcalde). Ethnic groups
The province is inhabited by indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Spanish is the language which the majority of the population (80.87%) learnt to speak in childhood, 18.22% of the residents started speaking using the Quechua language (2007 Peru Census). == Archaeological sites ==
