A group of international passengers board a Northeastern Airlines flight traveling from Los Angeles to Shanghai. Among them is Dan, who secretly brings a lithium-power bank onboard, plugged into his tablet and placed it inside his bag, ignoring prior safety warnings. Meanwhile, Cora argues with her father, Declan, expressing concern about the flight as well as resentment over his remarriage. Ben, the flight’s first officer, briefly intervenes to reassure her about the safety of the flight before continuing his duties. While waiting to board, Lilly, a member of an esports team, is harassed by Hutch, a drunken athlete from another group, until Sam, her team captain, steps in to defend her. In the cockpit, the pilot Rich and Ben begin their pre-flight procedures as the plane prepares for departure. As night falls during the flight, Declan attempts to reconcile with Cora, asking her to accept their new family dynamic and look after her stepbrother Finn, but she refuses. Shortly after, Declan and his wife retreat to the bathroom together. At the same time, Lilly and Sam argue, prompting Sam to walk away with a letter Lilly had given him earlier. Meanwhile, Finn, searching for his parents, wanders toward the rear of the plane after being unintentionally misdirected by Cora. There, he encounters Matt, a passenger who had been speaking with an older woman named Becky about his chances with a flight attendant, Zoey. Matt allows Finn to sit with him and distracts him with a game on his tablet. A fire breaks out in the aircraft’s cargo hold after Dan’s concealed power bank ignites. Initial attempts to contain the fire fail, and it escalates into an explosion that destroys one of the plane’s engines. With limited options, Ben issues a distress call. Unable to reach closest international airport safely, Captain Rich is forced to make an emergency ocean landing. During the rapid descent, chaos spreads throughout the cabin as unsecured baggage and debris injure multiple passengers. A rupture along the right side of the aircraft causes several individuals to be violently pulled out. Structural failures intensify when seat bolts loosen, sending rows collapsing and crushing passengers. As Rich warns passengers to brace for impact, the aircraft strikes a coral reef, causing it to cartwheel and break apart on impact. The wreckage separates into three sections. The tail lands upright on a coral reef, forming an air pocket that traps Matt, Becky, Zoey, and Finn inside. The middle section contains fewer than thirty survivors, including Sam, Hutch, his teammate Jesse, their coach, Dan, a flight attendant, and several others. In the front section, Penny, Cora, Ben, and Rich remain alive. Lilly, who is thrown into the ocean during the crash, struggles to stay afloat and is briefly pulled underwater. She manages to reach a piece of floating wreckage, where she discovers a severe bite wound on her leg. In the forward section, Rich remains trapped in his seat as rising water pressure causes the cockpit windows to crack. Realizing escape is impossible, he orders Penny and Ben to abandon him, formally placing Ben in command before they leave him behind. Penny and Ben plan to locate other survivors and retrieve the aircraft’s
E.L.T locator from the middle section of the wreckage. Penny initially volunteers to go alone while Ben stays behind with Cora, but when Cora spots a shark in the water, Ben attempts a rescue using a raft. Meanwhile, Lilly’s wreckage begins to sink, forcing her to swim toward the middle section of the plane. Sam tries to encourage the survivors to stabilize the wreckage. However, Lilly’s arrival draws sharks to the area, resulting in a deadly attack. Tensions escalate further as accusations are made. Ben arrives, urging the group to stay calm. He organizes the survivors to deploy life rafts and personally searches for the locator. Ben rescues Cora as the unstable wreckage floods the cabin. In the chaos, the group scrambles onto the rafts, but several setbacks occur: Dan drops the locator into the water, Hutch loses consciousness, and both he and Sam are swept away from the rafts. Ben and Cora narrowly manage to reach safety on the rafts before the sharks close in. Meanwhile, Declan and his wife regain consciousness inside the bathroom. In a panic, Declan opens the door, causing water to rush in and flood the compartment. In the submerged rear section of the plane, Matt, Becky, Zoey, and Finn struggle to stay alive as the water level rises, forcing them to climb upward. Becky tries to keep Finn calm while Zoey devises a plan to swim out and find help. Matt volunteers to go in her place, but upon reaching the surface, he only finds pieces of wreckage and floating bodies. He is grabbed by Declan, who survived by clinging to part of the bathroom and desperately asks about his daughter. Moments later, Declan is attacked by a shark and Matt attempts to swim away. When Matt fails to return, Zoey decides to escape with Finn and Becky, but Becky refuses. Zoey leaves with Finn, promising to come back for Becky. They swim through the wreckage and manage to locate an unopened life raft left behind by other passengers. As they attempt to board, Zoey is attacked by a shark but succeeds in getting both herself and Finn onto the raft before losing consciousness. Panicked, Finn tries to wake her, but in his distress, he accidentally tips himself out of the raft. Elsewhere in the ocean, Sam manages to keep Hutch alive by holding his head above water as they cling to a floating piece of luggage. When Hutch regains consciousness, they find themselves surrounded by sharks. They are ultimately rescued by the group of survivors led by Ben. By nightfall, the survivors are located by a helicopter crew. However, the rescue attempt quickly goes awry when a crew member is lowered into the water and is attacked by sharks. The uncontrolled tension on the rescue line causes the helicopter to destabilize, and it crashes into the water, tipping one of the life rafts and throwing survivors into panic. As people scramble to recover, Ben realizes that Cora is missing and spots her stranded on a separate piece of wreckage. At the same time, a group of Chinese fishermen discover the survivors but are unable to reach them due to shallow waters and surrounding coral reefs. Ben swims out to Cora, however on their return back to the raft, they are attacked by sharks. To distract the sharks, the fishermen throw their catch into the water, luring the predators away. With the danger temporarily reduced, the survivors are finally able to regroup and are successfully rescued. Cora attempts to locate her stepbrother using a tracking chip her stepmother had placed on him before boarding. Following the signal, they reach the second raft and find Zoey and Finn alive, both having survived the ordeal. ==Cast==
