Racial and ethnic composition 2020 census As of the
2020 census, Dundee had a population of 5,235. The median age was 38.4 years. 24.6% of residents were under the age of 18 and 16.9% of residents were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 95.6 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 93.4 males age 18 and over. 92.3% of residents lived in urban areas, while 7.7% lived in rural areas. There were 1,853 households in Dundee, of which 37.3% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 48.6% were married-couple households, 18.3% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 26.8% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. About 22.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

racial makeup of the town was 69.92% White, 22.05% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.93% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 5.56% from other races, and 1.37% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 11.37%. Of the 1,123 households in 2000, 28.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.7% were married couples living together, 13.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.7% were non-families. 24.1% of households were one person and 14.3% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.04. In 2000, the age distribution was 26.0% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 23.0% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 23.2% 65 or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.7 males. In 2000, the median household income was $29,174 and the median family income was $33,831. Males had a median income of $30,218 versus $20,449 for females. The per capita income for the town was $14,411. About 11.8% of families and 12.8% of the population were below the
