2020 census As of the
2020 census, East Massapequa had a population of 19,854. The median age was 44.7 years. 19.1% of residents were under the age of 18 and 20.7% of residents were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 93.1 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 90.3 males age 18 and over. 100.0% of residents lived in urban areas, while 0.0% lived in rural areas. There were 6,884 households in East Massapequa, of which 30.2% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 55.9% were married-couple households, 13.4% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 26.4% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. Most of East Massapequa’s African American and Hispanic populations live east of Carman Creek in the section served by the Amityville Union Free School District and formerly known as "West Amityville.” There were 6,432 households, out of which 36.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.6% were married couples living together, 11.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.6% were non-families. 16.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.00 and the average family size was 3.37. In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 25.1% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 31.1% from 25 to 44, 23.0% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 years of age or older.
