2020 census As of the
2020 census, Florence had a population of 1,171. The median age was 33.0 years; 28.4% of residents were under 18 and 12.0% were 65 or older. For every 100 females, there were 109.9 males, and for every 100 females 18 and over, there were 110.3 males 18 and over. Of the 418 households in Florence, 46.7% had children under 18 living in them, 45.0% were married-couple households, 22.7% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 26.8% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. About 22.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.1% had someone living alone who was 65 or older. About 8.3% of the 456 housing units were vacant. The homeowner vacancy rate was 1.1% and the rental vacancy rate was 5.1%.

Of the 381 households, 38.8% had children under 18 living with them, 55.4% were married couples living together, 12.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.6% were not families. About 23.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.3% had someone living alone who was 65 or older. The average household size was 2.77 and the average family size was 3.29. In the city, the age distribution was 31.1% under 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 28.0% from 25 to 44, 18.9% from 45 to 64, and 13.4% who were 65 or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females, there were 99.6 males. For every 100 females 18 and over, there were 93.1 males. The median income for a household in the city was $36,250 and for a family was $42,059. Males had a median income of $30,500 versus $23,750 for females. The
