Port Darwin, McMinn married his first wife, Anna Gore. Anna is buried in Palmerston (Darwin) Pioneer Cemetery also called Goyder Road cemetery. Her date of death is listed as 25 December 1880, aged 27 years. Her headstone also mentions their son "Willie" who died 10 March 1878, aged 7 months. He married again on 15 November 1884 to Madge Fleetwood-Marsh. He had three sons and two daughters. Alfred was a son of Rev.
