2020 census As of the
2020 census, Gold Hill had a population of 1,335. The median age was 41.7 years. 20.1% of residents were under the age of 18 and 20.7% of residents were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 102.9 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 96.7 males age 18 and over. 94.4% of residents lived in urban areas, while 5.6% lived in rural areas. There were 543 households in Gold Hill, of which 28.7% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 42.4% were married-couple households, 20.1% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 28.2% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. About 24.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. There were 509 households, of which 27.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.4% were
married couples living together, 12.4% had a female householder with no husband, 7.3% had a male householder with no wife, and 34.0% were non-families. 25.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 2.83. The median age in the city was 43.9 years. 19.5% of residents were under the age of 18; 8.8% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 23.1% were from 25 to 44; 34.2% were from 45 to 64; and 14.4% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 50.1% male and 49.9% female.

There were 419 households, out of which 35.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.6% were married couples living together, 14.6% had a female householder with no husband, and 29.8% were non-families. 23.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 2.95. In the city, the population had 28.3% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 25.9% from 45 to 64, and 11.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.9 males. The median income for a household in the city was $32,500, and the median income for a family was $35,438. Males had a median income of $33,625 versus $23,036 for females. The
