2020 census As of the
2020 census, Hanover had a population of 3,548. The median age was 35.9 years. 33.3% of residents were under the age of 18 and 7.4% of residents were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 101.1 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 101.1 males age 18 and over. 84.6% of residents lived in urban areas, while 15.4% lived in rural areas. There were 1,126 households in Hanover, of which 53.2% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 74.2% were married-couple households, 10.3% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 11.6% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. About 12.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. There were 1,153 housing units, of which 2.3% were vacant. The homeowner vacancy rate was 1.3% and the rental vacancy rate was 1.0%.

The average household size was 3.17 and the average family size was 3.36. The median age was 32.5 years. 34.8% of residents were under the age of 18; 4.8% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 34.3% were from 25 to 44; 22.7% were from 45 to 64; and 3.5% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup was 51.4% male and 48.6% female.
