Orlin did his undergraduate studies at the
University of Pennsylvania, receiving a bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1974. In 1976, he earned two master's degrees, an MSc from
California Institute of Technology and an MMath from
University of Waterloo. Orlin received his Ph.D. in
operations research from
Stanford University in 1981 under the supervision of
Arthur Fales Veinott Jr. He joined the MIT faculty as an assistant professor in 1979, and became the Brooks Professor in 1998. ==Selected works==
