Malahat-Juan de Fuca was created prior to the 1991 election from parts of
Esquimalt-Port Renfrew and
Cowichan-Malahat, and it was contested from 1991 to 2009. The district was abolished in the
2008 British Columbia electoral redistribution, with its territory being allocated between
Juan de Fuca and
Cowichan Valley. The riding was re-established in 2023 as one of six new electoral districts in the province following the results of the
2021 British Columbia electoral redistribution. It was created out of parts of
Langford-Juan de Fuca,
Cowichan Valley and
