Moses Chalai is an
Indian Administrative Service officer of 1990 batch from the
Manipur cadre. He has served in various positions in the
Government of Manipur. As the
principal secretary, he served in the
Cooperative Department at the Agricultural Ministry of the
Government of Manipur from 2012 to 2016. He then served as the
Secretary of Inter-State Council in
Home Affairs Ministry from 2024 to 2025. After the retirement of Ajay Seth in July 2025, it is speculated that Chalai is the next to be appointed to the
Finance Secretary of India if the rule of age convention is followed. If appointed, he could serve until 31 January 2028 until his retirement. Chalai would be first person from the North eastern community and from
Scheduled Tribe that would appointed at such a higher post. ==See also==
