Kalarsky District is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the thirty-one in Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia. It is located in the north of the krai, and borders with Tungokochensky District and Tungiro-Olyokminsky District in the south. The area of the district is 56,800 square kilometers (21,900 sq mi). Its administrative center is the rural locality of Chara. Population: 9,051 (2010 census); 9,785 ; 20,942 (1989 Soviet census). The population of Chara accounts for 21.0% of the district's total population.
