Griffin was born in Farmville, Virginia in 1971. However, he grew up in Boston. He got his B.A. Psychology, Morehouse College, Atlanta, GA. The New York modern and contemporary art gallery, Mitchell-Innes & Nash presented the first solo exhibition in New York city for Griffin from September 6 through October 13, 2001. This art exhibition was Griffin's first solo exhibition in New York City. Griffin's charcoal on paper artwork appeared in the Whitney Museum of American Art in 2000.
