Courtney McColgan, Former CMO of
Cabify, founded Runa in October 2017, then officially launched the platform after three months of development through the Y Combinator accelerator program. The cloud-based
SaaS platform provides features such as automated payroll, IMSS (social security) and
human resources management, and
report generation. The platform also integrates employee benefits, such as
medical,
dental, and
life insurance. In 2020, Runa opened offices in
Monterrey. In 2025, the company expanded to Chile, Peru, and Colombia.
