Barnsley In the summer of 1996, ten Heuvel signed for
First Division club
Barnsley for £75,000. He made his debut in a 1–1 draw away to
Ipswich Town on 1 October 1996, coming on as an 87th minute substitute for
Peter Shirtliff. He would make 3 appearances all season as the club were promoted to the
Premier League, finishing 2nd to
Bolton Wanderers. Whilst with the Tykes he played twice in the Premier League against
Aston Villa and
Southampton.
Sheffield United In the summer of 2002 he returned to England, signing a two-year contract with First Division side
Sheffield United. On 29 March 2003, ten Heuvel was loaned out to First Division rival
Bradford City for the remainder of the 2002–03 season. At the beginning of the 2003–04 season, he signed for
Grimsby Town on a one-month loan.
Return to the Netherlands Upon his release from Sheffield United, ten Heuvel joined
De Graafschap, initially on trial before signing a one-year contract. ==Coaching career==
