The specific name, newtoni, is in honor of "M[onsieur]. F. Newton", who collected the type specimen on Ilhéu das Rolas in the Gulf of Guinea. "F. Newton" refers to Portuguese botanist Colonel Francesco Newton (1864–1909). ==Description==
