The commune is in the Normandie-Maine Regional Natural Park. Lonlay-l'Abbaye shares a Natura 2000 protected area, Landes du Tertre Bizet et Fosse Arthour, with two other communes Domfront en Poiraie and Saint-Georges-de-Rouelley.
