Maurice Wildon Montague Pope was a British linguist, specialist in Classics, one of leading researchers of the Cretan script Linear A.
Military service
Maurice served as an officer in the Royal Navy from (July 1944 - November 1946). He served on the LCT 1187 that was part of the flotilla of H.M.S. Troubadour. In his autobiography "Amateur" he recounts his experiences of the war. == References ==
