Mekoryuk first appeared on the 1950 U.S. Census as "Mekoryok." It appeared as the current spelling in 1960. It was formally incorporated in 1969.
2020 census As of the
2020 census, Mekoryuk had a population of 206. The median age was 35.0 years. 28.6% of residents were under the age of 18 and 15.5% of residents were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 121.5 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 137.1 males age 18 and over. There were 72 households in Mekoryuk, of which 41.7% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 36.1% were married-couple households, 36.1% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 22.2% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present.
