Born in 1942, Anderson attended
Kingston Grammar School and
Queens' College, Cambridge, graduating in 1964 and then completing a
PhD five years later. He also served as
Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages from 1985 to 1989, Vice-Principal from 1989 to 1990, He has received
honorary doctorates from the University of Edinburgh (2007) and the
University of Leicester (2014), and was appointed an Officer of the
Order of the British Empire in the
1999 Birthday Honours "for services to educationalism". == Publications ==
