2020 census As of the
2020 census, Mission had a population of 9,954. The census counted 5,295 households and 2,240 families. The median age was 35.6 years. 14.1% of residents were under the age of 18 and 17.6% were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 92.3 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 90.4 males age 18 and over. 100.0% of residents lived in urban areas, while 0.0% lived in rural areas. There were 5,295 households, of which 17.0% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 30.2% were married-couple households, 27.3% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 34.5% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. About 46.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

Income and poverty The 2016-2020 5-year
American Community Survey estimates show that the median household income was $64,703 (with a margin of error of +/- $8,080) and the median family income was $85,794 (+/- $6,041). Males had a median income of $48,004 (+/- $2,808) versus $32,500 (+/- $3,458) for females. The median income for those above 16 years old was $40,964 (+/- $2,424). Approximately, 3.9% of families and 9.5% of the population were below the
poverty line, including 8.9% of those under the age of 18 and 2.9% of those ages 65 or over.

The average household size was 1.86 and the average family size was 2.69. The median age in the city was 35.2 years. 16.1% of residents were under the age of 18; 10% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 36.6% were from 25 to 44; 23.9% were from 45 to 64; and 13.4% were 65 years of age or older.
