2020 census As of the
2020 census, the county had a population of 15,473. The median age was 38.9 years, 25.5% of residents were under the age of 18, and 17.2% were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 107.6 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 108.3 males age 18 and over. There were 5,590 households in the county, of which 33.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them and 22.6% had a female householder with no spouse or partner present. About 26.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.07. In the county, the population was spread out, with 25.90% under the age of 18, 8.20% from 18 to 24, 31.10% from 25 to 44, 20.90% from 45 to 64, and 13.90% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 113.30 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 116.80 males.
