2020 census As of the
2020 census, Montana City had a population of 2,918. The median age was 49.1 years. 23.1% of residents were under the age of 18 and 23.0% of residents were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 104.1 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 99.3 males age 18 and over. 0.0% of residents lived in urban areas, while 100.0% lived in rural areas. There were 1,097 households in Montana City, of which 29.4% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 75.2% were married-couple households, 11.4% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 9.7% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. About 14.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
2000 census As of the

married couples living together, 2.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 9.9% were non-families. 7.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 2.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.99 and the average family size was 3.14. In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 30.9% under the age of 18, 4.7% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 29.4% from 45 to 64, and 6.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females, there were 98.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.5 males. The median income for a household in the CDP was $66,027, and the median income for a family was $67,240. Males had a median income of $40,909 versus $29,508 for females. The
