Julianne Moore. Galitzine joined the cast after screenwriter

Mary & George was a significant shift from his romantic comedy roles in
Red, White & Royal Blue and
The Idea of You. He received the role when, in his audition performance, he chose an
Alabama Shakes song which led to a spontaneous dance between him and Hathaway. To prepare for the role, he took part in a "boy band boot camp" that included dance rehearsals and stage training.
