Old Bridge first appeared as an unincorporated community in the
1970 U.S. census; There were 7,274 households, out of which 43.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.5% were
married couples living together, 8.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 14.3% were non-families. 12.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.11 and the average family size was 3.39. In the CDP the population was spread out, with 27.5% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 31.9% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 10.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 96.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.9 males. The median income for a household in the CDP was $73,824, and the median income for a family was $79,230. Males had a median income of $54,906 versus $36,345 for females. The
per capita income for the CDP was $26,395. About 2.0% of families and 2.9% of the population were below the
poverty line, including 3.6% of those under the age of 18 and 6.5% of those 65 and older. ==References==
