Patrick Carter became the co-owner of Carter's Express, Inc. in 2011. The company contracted for
FedEx and operated 20 trucks for home ground delivery. Carter sold the company in 2018 to join his wife, Brittney Carter, as a joint owner of Life's Purpose, serving over 500 youth since its inception in September 2019, with the support of the community and various non-profit organizations. Carter also works to help train young athletes, specifically quarterbacks, defensive backs and wide receivers, who have dreams to get football scholarships and has a success rate of 100%. In 2023, Patrick Carter was hired on as the Senior Analyst at the University of Mississippi with an emphasis on wide receivers. In Carter's first year with the Rebels, the team set a then university record of 11 wins, which was capped off by a victory over Penn State in the
2023 Peach Bowl. Prior to the 2024 season, Carter was promoted to assistant wide receivers coach while keeping his role as the Senior Offensive Analyst. The Rebels finished the 2024 season 10–3, statically having the #1, #6 #10 and #23 WR in the SEC at the end of the season. Carter coached his 2nd 1,000 yard WR in
Tre Harris, who accounted for 60 receptions for 1,030 yards and seven touchdowns according to (
Pro Football Focus). During the same season, wide receiver
Jordan Watkins against the
Arkansas Razorbacks on November 2, 2024, caught eight passes for 254 yards and five touchdowns, setting the Ole Miss single-game records for receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. In Carter's third year with the Rebels, he was named assistant passing game coordinator while keeping both of his previous roles. During the
2025 College Football Playoff, Carter was promoted to interim wide receivers coach for the Rebels following the departure of head coach
Lane Kiffin and subsequently the departure of wide receivers coach
George McDonald for LSU. Following the hire of
John David Baker as Ole Miss' next offensive coordinator in 2025, Carter's future with the Rebels becomes unknown. Carter was a part of Ole Miss' first ever and program record 13-win season in 2025. He has won a
