Masjid Al-Muttaqin is the fifth mosque built under the first phase of the Mosque Building Fund Scheme. The groundbreaking ceremony for the mosque was officially held on 29 April 1979 by Syed Ali Redha Alsagoff, the then chairman of the
Lembaga Biasiswa Kenangan Maulud (LBKM). Construction on the mosque was completed in 1980, before the opening ceremony was held on 21 September of the same year and led by Haji Rahmat bin Kenap, former People's Action Party Member of Parliament for
Geylang Serai. A new floor was added to the mosque in 1987 to house kindergarten classes, followed by a third level added to the mosque in 1998 complete with renovation work. == Location ==
