I-Ready

i-Ready is an online educational platform developed by Curriculum Associates. Founded in 2011, it provides tools for diagnostic assessments and personalized instruction in subjects like reading and mathematics.

History
i-Ready was initially made in 2011 by Curriculum Associates with the goal to provide fair and reasonable learning for all students. C.A. moved into online programs in 2011 with the release of i-Ready; a personalized teaching program. Its headquarters is located in North Billerica, Massachusetts. i-Ready originally ran on Flash, but was later moved to HTML, due to security concerns. == Learning games ==
Learning games
Some small, free learning games from i-Ready are popular with students because of their easy-to-learn controls and simple mechanics. Students that participate in the full curriculum may play any of these games during their learning sessions or as a break. These games may also appear at certain points during the i-Ready diagnostic. Some of the learning/break games from i-Ready include Galaxy Sprint, Hungry Fish/Hungry Guppy, and Cloud Machine. == Studies ==
Studies
In a study by the Johns Hopkins School of Education, students who did the i-Ready personalized lessons had a higher test score on the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS), scoring an average of 5-8 points higher than students who only did the diagnostic. Additionally, students who completed the usage guidelines for 18 weeks and passed over 70% of lessons had 6-17 point gains compared to other students. In another study by Georgia State University's Georgia Policy Lab, during the COVID-19 pandemic, showed that students that used it increased their growth on standardized tests more than those who did not. == Awards ==

Complaints
There has also been complaints about i-Ready. One reason is that people who don't have computers can't do i-Ready at home. Another reason is that some people think that it doesn't align with grade standards and curriculum and also think it's uninteresting. Other types of complaints about i-Ready have not been reviewed. == i-Ready Diagnostic ==

The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions based on the responses of students. ==User interface==
User interface
When logged in, there are two subjects to choose from; reading comprehension and mathematics. When decided on a subject, it leads them to a lesson available. Each lesson gives you 20 coins (or points), and achieving 50 coins allows you to play a game. It also allows the user to change the background of their interface, can change their "buddy", which is a character that notifies if you passed a lesson or not and states that each lesson helps you improve on schoolwork. There is also an option to see your lesson score statistics that also provides information to tell how much time you used i-Ready. There is another button that leads to the i-Ready family center. When in a lesson, it can vary in look and procedure. In the variant where it has an advanced option bar and characters that appear in several lessons, it allows the user to change audio, pause, rewind, fast forward (if you already did a future portion of the lesson), play the lesson, use a notepad, use a calculator (if applicable), use a dictionary (if applicable), and a pen. In another variant, it features random characters but with no bar below. == Platforms ==
Platforms
i-Ready is only available on these platforms; a web browser and an iPad, which there is an app. Any other platforms such as phones do not work. The only exception on the phone is an app title "Puffin Web Browser", which is available on the Google Play Store. == Purpose ==
Purpose

Lawsuit
On April 6, 2026, a lawsuit was filed against Curriculum Associates and I-Ready by Nick Petrossi, with the help of Andy Liddel. The lawsuit was filed due to allegations of sharing student data with other companies and monetizing off of that student data. The lawsuit also claims that student information is used to build psychological profiles of students for predictions of future student behavior. == Level marking ==
