Subsequent developments
The act has been amended on several occasions. The Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 restructured the role of the Registrar General and removed certain administrative provisions. The Immigration Act 2016 removed provisions relating to general fees. The Digital Economy Act 2017 inserted new provisions enabling disclosure of registration information to public authorities.
