Riverfield Country Day School was founded in 1984 by Marty Stout Clark. Her husband, Tom Clark, later joined as Assistant Head of School. Previously, Tom Clark was the Director of Admissions at
Holland Hall School. Mary Clark had previously founded
Trinity Episcopal Day School, and served as a Director at Kirk of the Hills Preschool. Both held positions at public and private schools in
Colorado,
Illinois, and
Delaware. Riverfield opened in August 1984, serving 40 children from infancy to second grade. After its first year, the school moved to a larger location nearby. In April 1989, the school opened a $1.4 million, 33-acre facility, expanding enrolment to include grades 3–5. Funding for the school came through its annual “Riverfield Revel” festival and tuition. In November 2004, Dr.
Jane Goodall visited to dedicate the Science Lab. The campus includes athletic facilities, a gymnasium, and the Centre for Creativity, which houses arts, technology, and sports programs. ==Athletics==
