Siliguri Government Polytechnic

Formation The college was formed in the year 1995, known as Women's Polytechnic, Siliguri, for promoting female education in West Bengal under the assistance of World Bank Project. The college was inaugurated by Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, the then Minister of Information and Culture of West Bengal. Shifting to Permanent Campus The college was established temporarily in Pradhan Nagar, Siliguri, before permanently shifting to a campus in Dabgram, situated in Subhas Pally, in the year 1998. The permanent campus was inaugurated by Jyoti Basu, the then Chief Minister of West Bengal. Co-Ed Status In 2005, the college was renamed as Siliguri Government Polytechnic College, thereby forming a co-educational institution. ==About college==

Affiliation This polytechnic is affiliated to the West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development, and recognised by AICTE, New Delhi. Courses Offered This polytechnic offers full-time diploma courses in various disciplines through admission in two separate categories, namely Diploma in Engineering and Technology, and Diploma in Pharmacy. Courses offered under Diploma in Engineering and Technology • Diploma in Architecture (D.Arch) • Diploma in Civil Engineering (DCE) • Diploma in Computer Science & Technology (DCST) • Diploma in Electrical Engineering (DEE) • Diploma in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering (DEIE) • Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (DETCE) Courses offered under Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) • Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) Facilities The college is equipped with more than 35 classrooms, 39 laboratories, 5 workshops, several drawing halls, as well as a library. It has also invested in digital classrooms, multimedia lab, language lab and conference rooms for better absorption of learning by the students, as well as for customised training programmes. In February 2024, the college inaugurated the North Bengal Career Counselling Center, a cell aiming to aid graduating students with job placements (through on-campus drive or off-campus initiatives). ==See also==
