Tagkawayan was opened on January 11, 1938 when the first freight service from Manila to Legazpi commenced, passenger services started on January 31. On April 16, 1995 an
IED had detonated on the tracks, with the perpetrators never being found. Train services on the entire Bicol commuter line were suspended in 2009 due to lack of
rolling stock and a series of devastating
Typhoons; as of 2023, trains from
Tagkawayan to
Naga City remained suspended even as other commuter services resumed. While it was reported in 2021 that services from Tagkawayan was to be resumed, it did in fact
not happen. Instead, the
Pasay-
Tiwi bus serves riders in the meantime. ==References==
